Event: The Ohio State University Industrial & Systems Engineering 2006 Senior Banquet When: March 9, 2006 Location: Confluence Park Restaurant, Columbus Event Report: It was a great evening of 120 good friends, 'entertainment', good food, and acknowledgement of student achievements. Marissa (2005 IIE Student Chapter) took a night off from 3rd shift Line Supervisor at Caterpillar in Chicago to return and to sponsor a company table. She is a very special engineer. She has been there for 7 months at this point and is at the beginning of her three-year company orientation. I spoke to Pam Hussen, Academic Advisor and my 'jobs' connection. Rosemary Hill, Director Engineering Career Services was absent due to medical issues in her family. Chris and Sarah Pounds (32), Lynn Waldron (16), Don Wagoner & Georgia McCarthy(40), Ann & I (32) represented our group. Chris took a few pictures. I collected the money and will mail it this weekend. The Pounds and Devenney families sat with Russ Mahoney (IIE Student President) plus his proud parents and sister. Russ gave an excellent speech recanting his 5 years at OSU and summarizing each year with a word (drinking, wiffle-ball, productivity, leadership, and excellence) plus a great story for each year leading him to adulthood and the real world experience. Lynn Waldron, Don Wagoner, and Georgia McCarthy hosted the second table with senior Monica Kolb and other familiar faces. Pan Hussen was recognized by everyone with flowers & gift and was warmly applauded. The new Dean, Dr. Julia Higle, spoke about the departing comments (exit interviews) from the senior class as they were exiting OSU. Good humor. Dr. Irani accepted an award from the students as an outstanding professor. The typical listing of student awards for' the best of .....' concluded the show and was followed by a social hour. Russ won the 'most likely to be the first CEO' award. Several folks asked about the next planned IIE shmooze. At 11:00 PM the event venue shifted to the Brazenhead Pub downtown at which point Ann and I departed for Dublin. The entire evening was very well organized and presented by Kelly McKauley & friends.
