Chapter #1 Members,
Happy New Year to all! Now that all the holiday cookies are gone
and the boat load of bowl games are behind us, let's turn our
attention to what's going on in 2006.
The national IIE promotion for signing up new members that started in
December is still on for this month. Do so and you have two chances
at winning a $100 gift card. See the following link for more details:
http://web.iienet.org/promotions/iieemail11-05.htm.
IMPORTANT
MESSAGES
One of the great
things about January is that many companies' have a fiscal year based
on the calendar year. This typically allows new budgets to be started
and more job opportunities to open. The IIE website currently has over
30 listings (http://jobs.iienet.org/c/search_results.cfm?site_id=161).
Our chapter Job Coordinator Mike Devenney confirms he has been hearing
about job openings both locally and nationally in areas
of distribution, logistics and supply chain. Two local opportunities
are attached; if you are interested, contact info rmation is provided.
UPCOMING EVENTS
FEBRUARY 28 at 5pm: Our chapter is going to be the
very first to host an IIE web cast! If you've never tried this before,
you'll be amazed. You can join the meeting from the comfort of your
own office or home location! This web cast has something for
everyone; whether you are looking for a new job opportunity, want to
clean up your resume or are interested in what a recruiter looks for
in an applicant, you will want to attend this event.
Jacki Szymanski is a Corporate Recruiter and Career &
Individual Development Advisor at H.B. Maynard and Co, Inc. based in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She will speak on "How to Make a Lasting
First Impression". She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human
Resources and also serves as Secretary for the Pittsburgh IIE Chapter.
Best of all - IT'S FREE! We want to celebrate this
"first" and offer this one hour web cast at no cost for any Columbus
Chapter senior member or OSU student member. Send me a reply and I'll
provide you with a phone number for the audio and instructions on how
to join the web cast.
FEBRUARY 10-12: The 2006 regional student conference
will be held at Purdue University and is open to
senior chapter members. The keynote speaker is Mr. Michael
Eskew, chairman and CEO of United Parcel Service. I spoke to
the OSU Student chapter and they are sending over 20 students! See
http://gilbreth.ecn.purdue.edu/~iiecon/ for more information on
the agenda and registration.
Regards,
Brad Laser
